Theme

Staying true to what we believe in (that graphs will enable possibilities that will change the world for good), we are asking you to help and enable others in the community.

What this means, you as a fellow developer have a unique knowledge and skill set. We want you to take your knowledge of “what you know” and ENABLE and EMPOWER the TigerGraph community to learn and/or use those tools as well to help improve the world.

WHAT IS A GRAPH DATABASE?

If this is your first time hearing about graph databases don’t worry, it’s easier to understand than you may think. Graph databases allow you to interconnect data together to derive insights that weren’t previously possible.

BASIC EXAMPLE

Let’s imagine for a moment that you are in front of a class of 5th graders and you wanted to explain “How money is stored at a bank?”

You might start by drawing a big picture of a BANK

Then draw a picture of ACCOUNTS and then draw a picture of a PERSON. Now you want to show that a PERSON has an ACCOUNT at the BANK so you draw a line between each of those entities. It might look a bit like this:

PERSON - (has_an) - > ACCOUNT - (at_a) -> BANK

Congratulations - You have actually just modeled a graph database. It’s that simple
